no more pain

"My husband and I have had every type of bed in 30 years. I have severe arthritis and a very bad back. I haven't slept well in years. This bed really saved me. We have had it several years now and it is fantastic. When my back hurts I can make only my side firmer, not his. When we travel all we want to do is come home to our sleep number bed. When you lie down and get comfortable there is just no other bed that can compare. Our beds in the past within a few years got a sagging spot where we both laid. That will never happen with our Select Comfort. My friends and family all want one of these beds. Sleep is a very important part of life. The better you sleep the better your day and life will be. WE will never be without our sleep number bed. When we build our new home all the bedrooms will have select comfort beds so that our guests can have the sleep quality we have every night. Thank you so very much for sleep number beds."

"A friend suggested we buy the Sleep Number when we were looking to get a new mattress and we are so glad we listened to them. It is absolutely the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. My husband feels the same way. Whenever we are a way from home...the one thing we miss the most is our Sleep Number."

"I have suffered with lower back pain and insomia for over 20 years. My wife and I have become frustrated with traditional mattresses over the years, as their quality seems to decline year after year. We have invested in high end matresses and had no better luck than the more typical quality.
Moving to the sleep number has solved my issues with lower back pain, but has also had the added benefit of being a good financial decison. Worring about our mattress wearing out and the ridge in the middle is now over.
Both of us are sleeping well and very happy with the 7000.

"I purchased the i8 expecting miracles due to the testimonials in the company video where "real people" spend one night in a Sleep Number bed and claim it was the best night's sleep ever. When after two weeks I was still waking up in the night with the same aches and pains as I had in my old bed I was regretting the purchase.
My husband had adjusted within a few days. It wasn't until I realized what worked for my back was a softer bed not a firmer bed that I was able to experience that wonderful night's sleep. No more tossing and turning. This bed is perfect for us because my husband's comfort level is 90 and mine is 25! There's no way a conventional mattress would work for both of us. This explained why he didn't think there was anything wrong with the old one! The drastic difference between our two sides hasn't caused any problems at all. And after 35 years my husband doesn't hog the middle of the bed!
It took me the entire 30 day trial to realize what a great night's sleep was like but it was worth it. Don't give up too soon."

Why didn't we do this before!?
Date:January 18, 2012
"We decided to retire our worn out spring mattress after only 4 years. My wife woke up with neck pain, and I always woke up with a sore back. I thought it was just me getting older! Man, was I wrong! We woke after our first night feeling great! No soreness, no pain! It's only been a month and a half, but it's been a wonderful month and a half! The ability to choose the firmness separately has been quite a blessing, my Wife being a 100, and me being a 45! No compromise on the mattress? Priceless!
I will say it didn't look impressive going together. Its nice material, but seems so simple. It's also not cheap! But, what is a great night sleep every night worth?
We are very satisfied so far! Looking forward to many more great nights!"

Skeptical at First But Happy Now
Date:January 2, 2012
"We bought an i8 bed in Sept and have been sleeping on it for approx 3 months. I have to say I was skeptical at first. I did not sleep well at all for the first three weeks. I called sleep number and one of the things they did was send me a different type of foam insert to try. Instead of the egg crate type foam, it is a solid piece of foam. I think the foam and allowing a few weeks to get used to it made the difference. My wife and I both now love the bed!"

Not Worth it
Date:January 1, 2012
"I tried out the i8 in store- loved it. Felt like it contoured to my body and felt great. I was disappointed by night #1. It didn't feel as cushioned as the bed in-store, and was incredibly hot. I woke up drenched in sweat every single night. Customer Service exchanged my total protection mattress pad for an inBalance pad, which helped a little, but the pad fits poorly and bunched up. This is truly a glorified air mattress- a lower number doesn't feel "softer," just flatter. I have fibromyalgia and did not experience any pain relief with this mattress. Completely disappointed I have ended up paying so much for a mattress I returned."

i8 - not what we expected
Date:October 21, 2011
"We purchased the i8 after trying all of the models in the Sleep # store thinking that it made sense to spend the extra money and get a higher end model. It seemed so comfortable in the store. Unfortunately, we have been very disappointed since it was delivered 2 weeks ago. We just aren't finding it that comfortable, aren't sleeping well, still have back pain and are considering returning it or exchanging for a p5 (which was our other choice). We paid nearly $4000 for the i8 and it doesn't feel like the miracle bed we expected for that kind of investment. We've tried the Sleep # we arrived at when in the store, working with the sales consultant for several days. Then we changed the # slightly for several days, but we still just aren't finding this to be that comfortable. The bed doesn't feel as "cushiony" / comfortable as the one in the store. Anyway - I was hoping for a wonderful experience to sooth away back pain and improve our sleep - but so far, it just hasn't worked out (sadly)."

Hi LR,
Thanks for providing your feedback. The Sleep Number bed does take some time to get used to. Your body has to adjust to a different way of sleeping, since the support is different than an innerspring mattress. We would be happy to help you by providing ways to find your ideal Sleep Number. Please call Customer Service at 1-888-411-2270.

We look forward to hearing from you.

this bed has wrecked my back!
Date:October 12, 2011
"My wife and I bought this bed about 2 years ago, as it was highly recommended by Bill Handel on KFI. There doesnt seem to be anything broken with this bed, but it had ruined my back. I have tried everything! I even went back to the store to double check my SN, fallowed their advise by only moving the number by 5 and giving it several days for my back to adjust to it. After about a year of this frustration, I bought a high quality memory foam topper and installed it. That only seem to help for a few months, now the back pain is worse than ever! I can not afford to by a new bed, now I am stuck with this piece of garbage! I would love for select comfort to step up to the plate and refund my money!"

Finally... The right bed for us!
Date:September 16, 2011
"We love our i8 and purchased the flex fit+ with it. We first tried out the P5 and slept very well... But t wasn't as inviting to get in-between the sheets... Just not luxurious. So we upgraded to the i8 and love it. It has the cushy feel, with the support we weren't getting from our name brand inner spring mattress. Honestly... We are sleeping better than we have in years. And with all the emphasis on the health benefits of getting enough sleep - we are so grateful to our friends who insisted we take a look at Sleep Number."

Not for snugglers
Date:September 7, 2011
"I've read tons of reviews for this bed and for the most part the bed is as advertised. The biggest complaint is for those of us who like to snuggle with our spouses. If you both like to sleep in the middle of the bed then steer clear of this bed. When both sleepers are in the middle if squishes the foam divider and alters the "sleep number" of both sides. If you both have drastically different numbers there's a elevation change which forces you apart. We are constantly having to refill the air bladders to remove the huge dip in our bed."

Love our bed!
Date:July 8, 2011
"I have a split king i8 bed. It is so comfortable and we love the individual options of bed positions. I am disabled with a rare from of arthritis. I use to get up in the night and literally fall asleep in a hot bath to relieve back pain. No longer! I actually adjust my sleep number (if needed) and my position and drift right back to sleep. Can’t put a price on that. I would recommend sleep number beds to anyone!"

awesome bed
Date:June 27, 2011
"My wife and I purchased this bed two months ago. I has been life changing. I did alot of research before buying these beds, because of the price. In the store I was told that it would take a week or so to adjust to the bed, but it didn't. Both my wife and I haven't slept, as good as we do now, this well in ages. I have early onset arthritis in my legs and back, but this bed has helped me immensely. Not more creeks and pops. We get that deep sleep. In fact we dream every night. which I know is important to a good restorative sleep. I do have one issue with the bed. the store i purchased the bed from informed me how to compensate for the issue, but it's annoying anyway. the controller.. it reads the same number all the time. only when you change the number will it read differently. i live in a state where pressure changes constantly. as a result my number can change during the day. when i get into bed at night to check my number it reads 40 but in reality it's a 55. i know this because when reading 40 i changed it to 45 and it jumped to 55 before dropping again. this is a major problem for people that may not get it. they will just think the bed doesn't feel comfortable. As a result i HAVE to air it to 100 everyday when i get up. which we are all told, but how many actually do this."

Can't Decide
Date:June 3, 2011
"This is my second sleep number bed. Have had the first one 20 yrs. I thought I was really upgrading by buying an i8. I am so torn over this bed. Customer service had be wonderful but I still don't see that great night sleep I was hoping for. Have had the bed 8 months now and still can't recommend it. I have settled on 50 for my sleep number but still feel like I need to buy more padding. I purchased a good padded mattress pad that helped but it was also another $100 expense. I have had the chambers replaced with a zippered pair instead of the foam strip. Much better design. I still feel the foam insert is the problem with support but they must be tired of my complaints by now. I would not give the bed up because the ability to adjust the settings is valuable. I just don't see the benefits I was hoping for with comfort."

Best Purchase Ever
Date:March 17, 2011
"I had been eyeing this set for over a year, and it has been the best decision we've ever made. I have issues with my back and hips and never got a good night sleep before; until we purchased this bed. I have talked to other people who have physical concerns and several are going to buy them. This bed is a dream come true for us. I love the In Balance material since I tend to sleep cold and my husband sleeps hot."

"My husband and I purchased the I8 on February 28,2011. The delivery and set up on March 7 was great! However, the bed is very uncomfortable. It feels like an air mattress. I have tried every number and still wake up with back pains. This bed is going back soon."

I love this bed!!!!!
Date:February 28, 2011
"I bought the i8 sleep number bed from the Dos Lagos store in Corona, CA from Chris White, the store manager. First, I am totally disabled and have several severe medical conditions as well as severe and extremely painful back and knee problems. Chris spent over 2 hours with me explaining each bed I tried and was extremely patient and helpful in assisting me in selecting just the right bed. Chris had me try the i8 and I loved it as soon as I layed down on it. Then he was telling me about the Flexfit and the Flexfit+ base and I was a little skeptical about spending that much money. However, after he explained the pros and cons of both of the bases, I opted for the Flexfit+. I have only had my bed for 2 nights now and I can honestly tell you it was the best money I have ever spent on a bed. This bed is absolutely amazing! My sleep number is a 35 and I have not slept that soundly in years. I used to toss and turn all night long, on a regular spring mattress and the very first night in my new i8, I slept the whole night through and woke up with no back pain whatsoever. Now I can hardly wait to go to bed at night. I went from using 4 or 5 pillows under my head to 1 pillow with the Flexfit+ because I can elevate my head to the perfect position with the touch of a button. Plus I can elevate my knees to the perfect position and I am so comfortable I don't even want to get out of bed in the morning. I would recommend this bed to anyone who want a good nights sleep in a truly remarkable and comfortable bed. Plus with the Flexfit+ I have the massage feature which I can use on just my head or my feet/legs or both the head and feet at the same time and it is so relaxing. I can't say enough about this bed. Thank you Chris for all you have done for me. I love my sleep number bed more each night I sleep in it."

High End, Low Comfort
Date:February 17, 2011
"My husband and I purchased the i8 queen bed in July 2010. I thought the first month or so was wonderful. It did not last. I have bilateral hip pain which was determined to be from our old mattress and my side sleeper positioning require a pillow top type mattress. I am very disappointed in the lack of support my body gets from this $3000 bed, as I still have the same hip pain I had before this purchase. The hard separation foam between the two sides of the bed is not the most comfortable feature. I think the bed is otherwise good quality and for the life of the bed, only pieces need to be replaced if they fail. I have ordered the 2 inch Cool Foam mattress topper for $240 and I am praying this will give me some relief. Too bad the pillow top my bed comes with did not provide more adequate cushioning. I would not recommend these products, very unsatisfied customer!! The 30 day guarantee they offer is for exchange of another item, not a true return policy. I will post again after a month or so trial with the Foam Topper."

Pleasantly Surprised
Date:February 16, 2011
"I always figured that Select Comfort beds were just overpriced air mattresses and not worth the price of admission. I now freely admit that I was wrong on both counts.
We bought our I8 queen about four months ago after hearing good reports from friends and family members. The salesman at the store was friendly, knowledgeable and quite helpful. The bed was delivered within a few days and the deliverymen did an excellent job putting it all together and setting the initial pressures.
We started with the recommended settings and we've remained at or near those pressures ever since. We've both slept very well from the first night and the little morning aches and pains that we all experience as we get older have all but disappeared.
I always assumed that the pump would be kicking on and off all the time on these beds, but I can honestly say that I've never heard it running, except on those rare occasions when we purposely adjust the pressure.
The bottom line is that we couldn't be happier with the I8 queen size bed. They are a bit pricey, but all quality mattresses are also and we're far more impressed with this bed than with any we have ever owned."
